Founded by Nashville native Pastor Louie Johnston, Jr. in 2001, Layman Lessons Ministries exists to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, lift the burdens of the oppressed and spread the gospel. Layman Lessons has provided over 6000 hot meals, procured and facilitated the distribution of over $35 million worth of food across 25 states from coast to coast, and has provided blankets, tents, sleeping bags and water for multiple disaster relief efforts in Middle Tennessee. We supply food to the hungry through our exclusive network of local and national faith based partners, including USA Produce Farmers, 700 Club Operation Blessing, Feed the Children, Midwest Food Bank, Convoy of Hope, Publix, Olive Garden and Chick-fil-A. Since its founding, all that God has done through Layman Lessons Ministries has been done with NO PAID STAFF. Ninety-nine cents of every dollar donated to Layman Lessons goes directly in or on a person in need.
Our Purpose
To support and encourage the disadvantaged, hungry and homeless
Our Vision
To empower the disadvantaged, hungry and homeless and create a stronger community
Our Mission
To support with food and clothing
To empower with job training and tutoring
To mentor with character development
To disciple with the Word
Layman Lessons’ Plan of Action for the foreseeable future is to mitigate the challenges that families on the cusp of homelessness struggle with daily while continuing to serve the homeless, hungry and disadvantaged. We recently partnered with Maples Fresh Eggs Farm to supply job skills training, mentoring and temporary housing for men 18 years and older. For more information on how you can help meet that goal, go to LaymanLessons.org and click on “How to Serve” and “How to Donate”.
